High School Graduate going into trade school

Hi,

I have a nephew that is graduating High School and is going into Carpentry trade school. He received a list of tools that he needs before starting training, tools he needs for first year, second year, etc. He already has the tools needed to "Start", the next list is for first year.

I would like to get him some of the tools on his list or anything else that he might want/need.

The list for first year are:

  • Jab Saw
  • Torpedo Level
  • Aviation Snips
  • Nail Claw
  • 7/8 ratchet wrench
  • Construction Master Pro

Is there a specific brand I should look for? I want to get him decent tools but don't wan to waste money if he's going to outgrow or not need a tool at some point. I typically buy Harbor Freight for tools I only occasionally use and either Dewalt or Milwaukee for tools I frequently use. What about a toolbox? He just got a nice tool belt for his birthday but what are some other things I should look at for him? Looking to get him started off on the right foot. Would love any input.

EDIT:

Somehow I missed half the list, here's the rest of things on the list:

  • 8" Adjustable wrench
  • Drywall Circle Cutter
  • Drywall Rasp
  • 2-6" Clamp (Vise-Grip style, no "Feet")
  • 2 Chalk Lines (1 Level 2 Chalk or Lower, 1 Level 3 Chalk or higher)
  • 18" Nail Bar
