Started ACS Professional Year. I want out.

I started doing the professional year because the job market is tough. More of an "at least I have something moving while looking for a job". I had thought the internship as well as the skills assessment would make it worth it. I'm just not seeing it. Especially since the migration lawyer still says I still need the 1 year experience aside from PY. I think buying a car instead so I could move regional would be a better value. That and I can get a day of my week back.
Is there any way to pull out of this without having to pay for the rest of the PY? Or can someone at least reassure me there is something to this. That it with all the uncertainty going on, carrying on with this would be better?
I'll finish PY by March next year and my 485 ends in September. For now, it looks like getting to stay in Australia longer doing IT is not feasible. I'm open to doing something else just to stay here. An IT career can wait.
