I want to practice the infamous pentatonic boxes and I would like to simultaneously improve my Fingerstyle technique.

So I'm asking for advice on how to Fingerstyle pentatonics.

My instinct tells me that I should strictly use the thumb for the E A and D string and then index for G, middle for B and ring for the low E string.

The alternative would be just using the thumb for every string or the index as a pick replacement.
