About me : mid30, canadian, budget of 30k cad (but im a cheap fuck), no kids in my future, commute is 25min/33km each way 3x per week, can charge at home and at work(free), small utility trailer (4x6) twice a year, will take some road trip but nothing crazy, im big on DIY wrenching (didnt see a mechanic since 2021, subframe job), right now im using a 600$ 2009 civic coupe pushing 355000km...

Im looking to a newer car, never had anything newer than 10 years old and id like something that will last. I want to be able to justify buying good parts and tire for a car that ill keep long term. Im wary of EV since i cant repair HV battery myself, lots of electronics too. I feel that oil will become more expensive, so ev would be the way to go...

I could buy a 2023 bolt EUV, trusting the battery will last 10 years even if it degrade (i dont need all the range). Or a prius prime 2022 burning some gas in the winter to keep warm, and the ev range barely cover my commute. Or a leaf, with good probabilty the battery will shit the bed.

Im lost.
