Design choices that are actually errors?

Design choices that are actually errors?

Take this with a grain of salt, but per a few sites here and there, the very washed out watercolors of early Pokemon art is actually from a printing error.

Sounds similar to the reason the Hulk went from grey to green, due to print quality allowing for a greater margin of error of color prints.

I must remind all of you that the first time Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman were together on film has Lex Luthor place a jar full of his own piss in front of a senator before blowing up a wheelchair

Ya know, I have said for the longest time that Man of Steel is my most hated movie of all time, but BvS might be the more spectacular failure

You have the first time EVER putting two of the biggest superheroes in all of history together on screen…and it’s the most sloppy, stupid, pretentious yet heavily concussed ramblings of a frat bro who snorted adderal with a philosophy textbook.

You had the first time to do this momentous occasion, and you fucked it up beyond all belief, and you can never have the first again. It will go down in history as “the two most important superheroes of all time’s first film together was raw ass”.

Bravo Mister Snyder.

Ya know, the funny thing with the game industry exploding right now is just over the weekend I bought one of the previous big things the industry shat out

EA Battlefront 2

Remember that? Remember that one comment from an EA dev that was, and I think still is, the most downvoted comment on all of Reddit? How the loot boxes got the attention of multiple governments for gambling? How the backlash was so insane that Disney reneged on the exclusivity deal with EA? “A sense of pride and accomplishment”?

How all of that will be 10 years old next year?

4 bucks digital on PS5 and the DLC to unlock everything is 12 bucks.

…it’s alright. I don’t play modern shooters at all, just was hankering for some Star Wars stuff with troopers and the original Battlefront collection isn’t on sale and I don’t think ever got fully fixed(?) the vibes when things get intense are neat.

Weird as hell though that the last update for that was around Episode 9, so not a Mandalorian in sight. A time capsule of a…different kind of worst time.

Old renders and stock shots still being used in merchandise and marketing decades later?

The Morrigan sprite of merchandise

As a guy who collects figures, it’s really funny seeing old ass renders of Sonic and Mario going as far back as the GameCube era still on merchandise. Though Mario’s oldest I’ve seen in the wild are still using Wii U era looks, and some have been updated over time like DK, but it’s just kinda bemusing to see.

Been on a Star Wars dive recently and wanted to share some of the concept art and early designs for Boba Fett that are real neat

For a guy who George said he wished he knew would be popular with fans so he wouldn’t have had him lose so humiliatingly, there’s an awful lot of concepting and planning on the design.

The original idea of Boba wasn’t that he’d be one individual bounty hunter, but essentially an elite Stormtrooper unit, a “Super Trooper”. The original concept was from the legendary Ralph Macquarie and featured a helmet that would later be used for Rako Hardean in Clone Wars. The more familiar helmet and revisions would be refined by Joe Johnson, who reshaped the suit into what we know today.

It’s real interesting seeing the poncho that Jango would wear in AotC and the helmet colors the Clone pilots would have in the same movie originally come all from rejected concept art from 1979-80.

Any suggestions for alternate portraits for the ISB trooper and Andor trooper?

Specifically the trooper with the removable helmet/goggles. Building a scene that would feature two of them, and trying to avoid the “wow, they had to reuse the same actor over and over” thing. Ideally looking for heads that can fit both the helmet and cap without being too distinct/recognizable.

Creators who have a “I don’t want to think about it/acknowledge it” attitude with their fandom/fans?

Ground rules: not asking about creators who hate their fans or antagonize them, looking for creators who have a distance of “I don’t acknowledge them/factor them in” for whatever reason (offline/not in fandom spaces, busy, etc)

There’s only three kind of examples I have off the dome, and they’re all probably incorrect.

- Toby Fox, as I understand it, keeps his interactions with his fanbases limited to announcements and that’s it.

- That…*awful* interview the mangaka to Delicious in Dungeon did where the interviewer is just asking fandom questions and the answers from the mangaka seem to be “what? Why? Who’s asking/thinking this?”

- Not a specific one, but one has to imagine that there’s a good chunk of creators who don’t want to think about or see their works get NSFW material made from them. A not full inverse of the Helltaker guy (that would be nuking said material from existence constantly) but more “I know it exists, I can’t stop it from existing, but I don’t want to think about it or see it”.

Stories where clones aren’t people/don’t count?

That’s a trope that pops up every so often in sci fi and the like, that clones aren’t “people” in the same way regular people are.

Been on a Star Wars kick again, and it’s interesting how this idea has kind of been with the franchise in different forms over the years.

Pre prequels? Clones are aberrations against nature and specifically the Force, mainly seen with the Thrawn trilogy’s use of cloning along with Dark Empire showing that the Force and the natural order of things from a spiritual and metaphysical sense does not like to be trifled with

Early prequels? Clones are essentially living droids, see the 2003 cartoon where they have little to no dialogue or individuality, the Dark Horse comics where it’s made very clear that the Kaminoans bread out the individual nature, and the original idea of Order 66

Post 2008? Clones are people
