What was actually the point in releasing Steel Path Railjack?

I've been asking myself this question for some time now. And honestly, I have zero idea.

Considering the overall state of the last update (not even mentioning bugs), I'm pretty sure adding it was waste of recourses that would have been at better use elsewhere. Especially considering DE's workload with incoming TennoCon.

By all means Railjack needs a proper rework and by proper rework I mean - make it what it is supposed to be. A spaceship where teamwork matters.

1. DE need to stop catering to everyone at the same time! (u can skip this rant part)

It can work with sexy skins but it wont work well with gameplay. Especially if we talking about mode that works best when u have a team. Thou I refer to pre rework Railjack with its unique systems and other cool stuff. What we have now is that people who dont like Railjack as a concept wont play it anyway, no matter how u spin it. However people who would like to play wont either because the thing is stripped of its identity, detached from most of the things in the game and just borderline useless.

2. The worst part comes from the TennoCon announcement.

If u didn't saw it - we are advised to be at the DryDock at the Event Relay when the main show begins. It means Tau can be potentially connected with Railjack, and if so, in its current state it will lead to the big update of the year being a DISASTER. It would also explain why DE suddenly decided to remember that Railjack is a thing, after YEARS of it being forgotten.

I would like to be wrong. I would like that Dry Dock is just a coincidence and we get 0 Railjack content in its current state. Or we get at least sensible retouch if it indeed will be used.

However I still have strong feeling about the last update. The whole situation is basically mismanagement of studio resources, and it should not be tolerated. Live service games live and die by how they managed (hello Destiny 2).

I'm not saying of course that what DE did is the same as what Bungie did. Making a bad update is not the same as spending so needed money on luxury and unneeded bigger offices instead of investing them in the game.

What I'm saying is that making complicated update with tricky to execute frame, slapping new game mode on top and new quest + SP Railjack is not easy. Doing so under strict deadlines while preparing for big event where u need all help u can get, while also not delaying undercooked and overhyped update - is a stupid idea.
