Competitiveness of masters programs
Hi everyone,
My story is pretty straightforward - I graduated from a state school with a math degree, have been working at a tier 1 quant firm for 4 years, and recently have become interested in expanding my knowledge base across other domains of science that I previously knew little to nothing about. I have gone through some introductory physics/chemistry/biology courses on OCW and think I would be a good fit for the curious minds of MIT based on anecdotes from many of my coworkers who went there to get their undergrad + several biographies such as Feynman’s which consistently describe MIT as a place I’d love to be. However, I don’t really have much to show as an applicant besides my job and the fact that I have gone through a few textbooks over the last couple months. Is it even worth applying to a program in the face of potentially much more capable applicants? Do I even have the prerequisites, or is a full undergrad in my area of study the expectation?
