Is the best melee build really full spell power?
First time player, just finished Act 2. I got the Lancelot set at the end of Act 1 and I've STILL not found melee-focused armor that is actually better, just a bunch of sidegrades. And the full set gives what, not even 200% increased Physical Damage, even with a decent amount of upgrading?
Meanwhile with just a hodgepodge of any of what feels like twenty different mage sets of Act 2 together with the Hexgrip Vambraces you easily clear >400% physical damage, especially if you forsake mediocre swords and axes and start to wack people with wands instead.
It feels ridiculous that I'm now entering Sarras with not a single actually melee-looking armor or weapon equipped (except for my trusty dashes-to-insane-crit-damage dagger) but I just can't piece together a normal-looking melee build with even a fraction of the power of a poorly optimized Hexgrip Vambrace build.
The various melee perk trees give like +5-10% increased physical damage which feels like a joke compared to the bonuses of the Spiritualist tree (and this is from the perspective of someone who doesn't even use any spells and just puts Spiritualist perk points for the spell power). Why are mages allowed to multiplicatively scale with Spell Power / Max Mana = Missing Mana / Multiplicative Spell Power / Crit while melee is just... Increased Physical Damage and Crit?
Are there secretly OP melee sets in Sarras or Act 3 that I'm missing? I've been eyeballing the Sarras trees and not-very-surprisingly it looks like the Mystic tree is going to be better for melee than the melee tree.
