Love You album cover color inconsistencies?
I’m currently recreating the Love You album cover with cross stitch, as some others here have done if you search for it.
This project has been a lot of fun, but it has made me acutely aware that there are some color inconsistencies between my original pressing vinyl sleeve, which I am mostly using as my pattern, and most versions of the album cover I see online. For example, the space between the yellow and pink on the top left bird looks more purple on my sleeve but more blue on most online versions.
I’m just going to choose the colors that I think look good. I don’t need advice on aligning with either the original sleeve or digital versions for this project. But, I am curious: has anyone else noticed these inconsistencies, and does anyone know why they may be? I feel like it may go deeper than just CMYK-RGB conversion as I have seen some digital scans of original sleeves that also look more purple in the place I mentioned.
Enough about Thump. Why does no one mention Flip???
I love the way you soften my shit with your prebiotic fiber
The Sonics’ debut single! The Witch / Keep A' Knock'in
So cool to find this. I grew up listening to The Sonics because my dad is from Washington and they were locally big when he was growing up. I still love them now, and am happy people outside of the PNW have found them to some extent since then.
And it sounds amazing. I’m realizing The Sonics’ sound works so much better on vinyl than through digital audio.
Only $18!
I have always wanted to pay eighteen times what I should for this.
About screamed when I stumbled across this in a random unsorted $3 bin
It was practically a jumpscare. Was not expecting to see this at all. I had to get it.
I love Going Public for what it is. It’s certainly not the most ambitious thing, and there are objectively better Beach Boys solo albums. But Gary Usher’s production is incredible and I love Bruce’s voice, so I listen to it all the time anyways. This was such a score for me!
The record is in good shape and the original inner sleeve is still there, but the extra with the Bruce profile on it is long gone. I’m OK with that, though.
How many of y’all got this in your autism evaluation report?
Edited to include only the most pertinent info, but yes, this is real
Got this from the thrift store for a dollar
I was shocked to see this at the thrift store. I always check the thrift store records because I enjoy lounge/exotica/easy listening and those records show up there a lot, but this completely surprised me. I had to get it.
While there’s that marker on the front, the record itself is in amazing shape with not a single scratch. It sounds incredible. Original Terre Haute pressing from 1971.
I sang Deirdre at the Pride parade
This song’s sheer gayness could not be contained. Bruce is too repressed so I was the one who had to bring it to its natural habitat.
Potential uncredited Thump vocals?
It’s long-believed that Thump didn’t contribute to any songs on any Beach Boys studio albums except perhaps minimally helping Dennis with the drums, but I think I may have actually heard a few uncredited Thump vocals on a few later tracks, judging by his voice on the Thumpin’ To The Beach bootleg. I’m pretty sure it’s him doing the low “yeah” and other low parts on It’s O.K., as well as the “duh duh duh, duh duh summertime” on Keepin’ The Summer Alive. I think it might even be him doing the single low “Bahama” during the chorus of Kokomo, but I’m not as certain about that.
Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think?
So nice that they included Thump in the official coloring book!
Was pleasantly surprised to see his inclusion. Good on the creators!
Mike Love, Bruce Johnston & David Marks of the Beach Boys
Be so fr. Is ANYONE paying $75 for a 100% polyester shirt?????
Wtf is that price for that cheap ass fabric. I know it’s Beach Boys but come on.
Terminal brainrot
I started out being enamored with Good Vibrations and Heroes And Villains. I ended up here.
I would really love to send a handwritten letter to Van Dyke Parks telling him how much the song Surf’s Up means to me.
Has anyone here had success sending fan mail to Van Dyke Parks? If so, could you point me in a direction that would make sure he receives it?
Of course, I could just send him this letter electronically. He’s active online. But I feel like a physical letter would be more meaningful.
