Who are most Plex users?

Big price hike in attempt to push monthly recurring revenue has me thinking about how many plex users are out there and what that demo is like.

I’m venturing to say that a very large portion of users are those who are hosting pirated content either just for themselves to avoid paying for Netflix and Hulu or even sharing with family or friends. I’m certainly not condoning this, but we know it’s a reality (whether it’s 20 or 60 percent of the user base who knows).

Am I wrong?

Most users are also fed up with monthly recurring payments for streaming no matter what they’re hosting. Is the current direction of Plex sustainable? Obviously it’s a private company so we don’t know the numbers or strategy, but I find it hard to believe that newer uses are going to be attracted to plex. Find me someone who has built a plex server and filled will pirated content and you’ve found someone who isn’t going to pay $6/month or $10/month to watch it.

Thoughts?
