Any idea as to what the blue galaxy background thing is called, or where to find it?

For context, I found this article, the second image showing an error: https://wccftech.com/oculus-exploding-galaxy-note-7-face-disables-gear-vr-support/ (I'm not asking about the Note 7, but about the background in the photo)

That background was used quite a bit on the Gear VR, I've seen it when I close games, when I get an error on my S7 nowadays, or when I open the on-screen keyboard in Minecraft. I've been looking through the APK's and haven't found any .ktx or similar files relating to it?

Is there a way to get DLC for certain games?

Hi, I've noticed that in some games that I have played (I can only remember two roller coaster games), there was the option to buy more rides to go on. I know the APK situation, but has anyone figured out a way to get said DLC, or to trick the game into thinking I have it? This is not needed but would appreciated as a few games have content locked behind paywalls.

Oculus Arcade doesn't work

Hi, I'm trying to run Oculus Arcade to play some old arcade games but the screen is having issues. When I launch the game, the screen becomes completely green (The two holes for each eye show, so it does kinda open, but I can't do anything) and I can still hear audio present from the game. That audio didn't go away even after closing the app, I had to uninstall it.

Oculus Home alternatives?

Hi, I've been looking for a substitute for Oculus home, as I can't access sideloaded apps through it. Are there any alternatives that work in VR mode? Or if that isn't possible, alternatives for the Gear VR service app.

Best Use Cases for S10?

Hi, I recently got an S10 which I planned on using for Gear VR (I know Gear VR is shut down but there are ways to get it working again). Since my phone is on Android 12, it can't run it so I have no reason to use it any more.

What are the best things I can do with an old phone like this, I don't want it to go to waste.

Are there any downsides to using an older phone for Gear VR?

Hi, if you saw my previous post, you would've seen that I got an s10. After realising that Android 12 made it incompatible (and due to Samsung being annoying I couldn't downgrade), I decided to just use it for a custom rom.

My current phone for this is an s7, and I know that they added a few things to the phone to make it different. Are there any differences regarding the vr part of it, are certain apps unsupported or buggy?

Am I able to get an unsupported phone working on a VR headset.

I recently got a Galaxy S10 which I wanted to use for VR. It seemed well until two problems:

  1. It is on Android 12, Gear VR supported 11 at most. I can try downgrading maybe
  2. Galaxy S10 only supported the last model of Gear VR (SM-R325). I have the SM-R324.

I can fix the downgrading issue, but is there anything I can do to get the phone working with the incompatible headset. Otherwise I got the phone for pretty much no reason.

Some stuff about orientation.

I think I noticed something about opening apps in Gear VR service, this isn't anything too crazy but might help a few. A few times when I would open an app, my phone would be slightly on an angle. This would cause the whole screen to slowly drift, as if I was slowly moving my head. Either I'm on to something, or people already knew this.

Also sorry for posting so much recently. I'm still new, I want to experience a lot of nostalgia, and I have little to no idea how this headset works.

UnsignedAPK error not allowing me to start multiple games from vault.

When I start various apps which I downloaded from the vault, it does open one of two things

  1. A phone version of the app (Without the screen splitting into two or any input from the controller)
  2. An error screen saying "Thread priority security exception. Make sure the APK is signed" in the skybox. When I press the only option (OK), it takes me to the Oculus home which obviously doesnt work.

The only exception that gave a different error is Minecraft Gear VR Edition. It just shows a gradient and nothing happens for a while. I'm pretty sure none of these games have OBB folders (I checked and only downloaded 2 OBB folders total out of way more APKs).

Antivirus saying many vault games are unsafe. Is it a false positive or has something happened?

Hi, I recently installed an antivirus on the same phone I use VR for. It works well however majority of games I download are considered unsafe, and it tells me to delete the APKs. Are these files safe, or is this a common occurence?

There was one time where I tried deleting an APK, but it said it was write-protected (I was connected to my phone on my pc via usb). Unplugging fixed it but still got worried.)

Is there a way to replace or fix Oculus Home?

I recently got my Gear VR headset working, and I noticed that the Oculus Home doesn't work that well. The menu bar on the bottom appears, but only "Brightness, Volume, Reset View" in settings and Internet show anything else. Stuff like library doesn't show a new window when clicked.

Is there anything to fix or replace this? I only want the home menu so I can switch apps like it used to, not want to take my phone out every time. Any solutions, even if its 3rd party stuff would be appreciated!
