Repairing or replace damaged controller box

I have a Hitway BK9S. I'm at its upper limit and noticed a rubbing noise riding. When I arrived at my friends I was visiting for some advice I realised the fat tyre had abraded the electronics box cover.

During riding if weight transfers to the rear wheel or through humps or sitting back the shock is bottoming out, and I hear a tyre catching noise.

The shock sags to its maximum travel regularly, there's no lockout etc.
I've ordered a higher quality rear shock, but I'm surprised the standard shock is so bad. My friend who's 85kg test rode it and it was almost touching the plastic cover with his weight stationary.

I know these are the cheapest non adjustable shocks, is it likely faulty or just trash?

I've ordered a coil over ZTZ shock with weight matched spring to try arrives tomorrow.

I've messaged Hitway with the photos to see if they can replace the shock or control box cover.

I'm likely going to do a temporary fix with epoxy putty, maybe glue or tape sacrificial slippy bit of plastic or metal on it until i know it's sorted. I see they are easily available but don't want to be stripping the electronic out so hopefully I can just get the right 'lid' or do an invisible ish repair if I can't.
