Primary doctor

Another post here complaining about dermatology reminded me of a concern I have with returning to Korea. In all of my years in the country I never felt the need to have a primary doctor, as in someone that I would follow-up with regularly to monitor my health. I always went to the clinic as needed and was happy with the results.

However, as I'm aging, and yay for being a woman, thinking about perimenopause and hormone related symptoms I feel that having one doctor to follow up with and keep track of my health would be beneficial. As this was never my experience, and not how I see my husband and his family visiting the doctor, I'm curious what others experience is.

I can say patience care and bedside manner is not something that was ever on the pro list of my experience with doctors in Korea. Clinics have the same 빨이빨이 mentality and conversations with the doctor were often pretty brief.

Does anyone have a primary doctor that they see regularly, and feel that they care about your health more than solving whatever the problem of the day is?

Obsessive phone updates

So I broke my phone screen a week ago and will need to update. My last one was a freebie I got when signing a contract abroad and honestly it did fine for the 3.5 years I had it. The camera was trash but I wasn't out here trying to be a photographer.

I'm looking at used phones, let's be real no way I'm shelling out for a brand new one, and what the hell? How are people falling into this trap of constantly needing to change their phone. Features cannot be changing that much between versions.

Just thinking about all of the waste is so depressing and frustrating.

Public Library

I lived in Daegu 6 years ago and will be moving back to the area soon. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on public libraries with a solid English selection. From what I remember the one in Beomeo was the best, but not sure if anything has changed?

Amagash Series - Elizabeth Strout

I came across this series after seeing "Tell Me Everything" on many book lists. I didn't realize when I reserved the book at my library that it was part of a series, so when the hold was available, I decided to go back and read the others. I just finished My Name is Lucy Barton, and it was very 'meh' for me.

Does one have to read the whole series to follow, or do these books work well on their own? I'm not sure I want to commit to 5 more, but I'm also curious if the last is really as good as the hype.
