Unpatched Budget Iceland Method (Costco)
My friend and I just completed our 5 day Iceland Golden Circle + South Coast road trip making it to Höfn and back.
Our first and last day, we ate Costco Hotdogs (only 299 ISK, comes with a free water bottle / fountain drink). We brought brioche buns, bunch of chips, dried sweetened mangos, glacier water, skyr, nuts, and bars. We mainly ate these and shopped a little at Bonus and Krónan.
But the real hack is getting that Costco Chicken Drumstick platter (~1500 ISK, lots of protein to fuel the day)+ Hot Dog Combo. We also filled up on costco gas, much cheaper than any other station before and after our trip (~200 ISK per Liter)
If you’re on a budget, Costco is where it’s at. Also we did the “Golden Circle,” looped around the free samples twice. Love Costco!!!
