The possible backstory of the Manmeyer Family and the reason why Imu failed to acquire the power of their eyes.
It is clear that all Manmeyer so far cannot awake the power of their eyes. So it give me some theories behind it:
The Manmeyer used to be a noble and righteous family until Imu corrupted their members. The righteous ones were the one that awakened the power of their eyes and brought the means to do it to their graves so Imu would be able to abuse it.
Imu tried to cross-breed Growl with Candle to create Shuri so he could get the power of the eyes but so far he still failed.
Shuri will active the power of her eyes and be the first to do so after 800 years. The means to activate it should be related to something positive like love and compassion or sheer willpower. Her awakening will basically resurrect the original Manmyer mantle.
What do you think? I think Oda is inspired by the Uchiha clan for Shuri

After the latest chap, Oda is building up for Shuri’s moment in the next chapter! She will be the first of her cursed bloodline to awake her eye power, which is something Imu failed to do on her! She gonna go full Kakashi on Imu.
