First Real watch
Hi everyone,
Thanks to this subreddit, I’ve learned a lot about watches movements, brands, and what actually makes a good long-term purchase.
My birthday is coming up in July and I wanted to buy my first proper automatic watch. My initial budget was around ₹35k max, so I started looking at Seiko 5 automatics. Then I saw the GMT variants and absolutely loved them. Through a connection, I’m able to get the Seiko 5 GMT for ₹36,450, which honestly feels like a solid deal.
The problem started when I saw the Seiko Coutura Solar Chronograph with the brown/rose-gold detailing. That watch genuinely caught my attention immediately it looks very premium in person and I’m also getting a great deal on it.
For context:
I currently own a Casio quartz (gifted to me)
And an Alexandre Christie chronograph that I bought 3 years ago mainly based on looks before I knew much about watches
So now I’m confused between:
going for the Seiko 5 GMT as my first mechanical/enthusiast watch
or the Coutura because I genuinely love how premium and classy it looks
The GMT feels like the smarter “collector” choice, but the Coutura really fits my aesthetic.
