Should I move back closer to family

I am living 3 states over from family and love the state I'm in now. Im not to fund on the other state based off of cost. I didnt plan on heading back but recently my father in-law had a stroke cause his brother died and started to think it might be better to be closer to family while they age. Im not saying next door, im talking in driving distance within the same state. Then at the same time have my kids be around my parents and wife parents while they are starting to get to that age. I know this is a simple question for most but it would double the cost of living for the bad side, the good side closer to family.
