huge fight with my parents (they reserved a venue without consulting me)
To set the stage: got engaged 2 months ago. i've always wanted to do a courthouse wedding or a very small ceremony, but my fiancé and my parents wanted something more traditional. they managed to persuade me after my parents said they would help with the finances, and we decided to book a biggish venue. i've told them my fiance and i don't really need the financial help but they said they wanted to pay for at least part of the wedding, since they were planning to do the same for my sister, and they wanted to treat us fairly
diretly afterwards my mom and i have been bickering pretty often about when to do the ceremony; due to my fiancé's schedule, we'd decided the wedding would best be on next January or February, which made my mom upset since she'd hoped for an outdoor wedding, but she had seemed to relent.
my fiancé and i were supposed to go see a few venues later this month and put in a down payment, but my parents called me out of the blue today and told me they had visited one of the venues themselves and made a reservation for next Jan, without consulting me whatsoever. they were pretty proud of themselves and told me they had already taken care of the payment. i exploded and said some stuff i shouldn't have. luckily the venue offered a free cancelation as long as we call them within the week, but i'm still pretty upset, as well as feeling immensely guilty at the same time for shouting. i feel like i have to fight tooth and nail every single step for my opinion to be heard, and it's so frustrating even though i know they mean well... my mom finally apologized but now i'm a bit lost how to continue from now on. telling my parents not to interfere seems cold, and i do appreciate their help but the lack of communication is seriously stressing me out
