The infamous dual tank issue. Front is filling the rear.

The infamous dual tank issue. Front is filling the rear.

If you saw my post a few weeks back, you would know I've had the bed off twice in last couple months to do fuel pumps. First time I only did front pump because I realized the rear (which wasn't operational when I bought it) needed more work than I had time for. So the second time the bed came off it got done.

So.. 1993 f150 xlt 5.8.

Front tank = just the fuel pump assembly.

Rear tank = new tank, fuel pump assembly, filler neck and vent valve.

Also, replaced filter and pressure regulator.

After putting all that new hotness in for the rear. I filled both tanks up and it was great. Went 186 miles on the rear, filled it up and switched to the front. Drove 196 on the front, filled up and switched to the rear. Everything went wonderful.

This is where something started happening. The second run on the rear tank, when it got down to about 1/3 of a tank and it seemed like it had issues getting fuel. Especially on hills taking off and sharp turns. Switch to the front, runs fine.

So I topped off the rear thinking it was lower than I assumed, (needle bounces all over) but it only took 9 gallons, so I had half a tank still. (and this should have been an indicator of what was about to come 😂)

Been running on the front since and today was walking around my truck and I smelled gas. See a wet spot in the rear, open door, it's leaking out of the rear cap. Crack cap, starts running out. 😂

Am I correct in seeing in my searches that this means the check valve in the rear tank is kaput? Any other possible things? My gut is telling me this NEW assembly has crapped the bed. I didn't buy the cheapest of the cheap, but I also did by the most expensive. Spectre Premium is what I got on both.
