New nerve pain?!
I had L4/L5 TLIF on 23rd Feb and have been slowly recovering. Main symptoms from pre-op are 80% gone though I still get a significant deep ache in my lower back.
BUT…I’ve started to get a new nerve pain symptom. It’s lower back and into my left buttock. I never had this pre-op. I have “significant degeneration” at L5/S1 but a much smaller disc bulge there, so it wasn’t touched during surgery. I was concerned about this but my surgeon is very difficult to communicate with (I saw him twice pre-op, once for initial appt and once to discuss surgery options) so the only time I could raise it with him was on the day of surgery, when he dismissed it and said all my problems were caused by L4/5.
I’m acutely aware of adjacent segment disease and am very worried that now there’s extra pressure on the below disc it is causing this new pain. I don’t see my surgeon again until early June and communicating with him is nigh on impossible. Has anyone experienced this or similar? Is it possible to get ASD so soon after initial surgery?
