How I SOLVED the Inventory in Containment Breach! (More in post description)

How I SOLVED the Inventory in Containment Breach! (More in post description)

This is a part 2 to my first post I made about quick inventory using scroll wheel.

Basically, I made a python script that snaps the mouse to different inventory slots for lightning fast inventory use.

If you want to see me demonstrating just how quick this way of using inventory is, skip to the last timestamp of the video.

Did you know you can disable the jumpscare intro movie that plays when you open the game?

Go to your main SCP CB directory and find the defaults.ini file, when you open it you should see a lot of fun stuff, but for this find [general] options and just change play startup video from true to false.

bye

Making using inventory and navigating the map faster... Using scroll wheel... FULL GUIDE AND OTHER USEFUL INFO

WARNING This is a long post.

Since I have time on my hands and a lot of love for this game, I decided I would make the game as comfortable to play, which made me create my own texture pack for the game and, well, remap my mouse buttons.

Basically, since I played a lot of Counter-Strike back in the day, I got used to jumping on scroll wheel. One day while playing keter, I noticed how tiring it was to pull out my S-NAV and open doors with keycards all the time and then pulling the S-NAV out and repeating (I'm lazy asf...) so I was trying to find a way to make navigating the inventory faster.

Since there is no option to make navigating inventory with one left click, I was searching for ways to make my left click double click on one click (AutoHotkey) but that idea ended breaking and was really tiring for the GPU for some reason.

After some digging I came across a software called XMouse, which is software for easier mouse remapping (you can make left click do a right click for example, a lot of fun stuff in it). So, I tried remapping left click to double click but it didn't work.

The reason why this didn't work is because left clicking buttons in this game is NOT BASED ON CLICKING LEFT CLICK BUT ON RELEASING IT. One more thing I noticed is that using inventory items in this game is dependent on is FRAMES. For some reason, the game having more FPS updates mouse inputs faster, which is why I wouldn't recommend this if you cant run CB on at least 144 FPS.

So, you run CB on at least 144 FPS, this is how you make this method work.

You need to download XMouse or any mouse remapping software. JUST BEWARE, THIS IS PRACTICALLY CHEATING, DONT TRY USING THIS IN MULTIPLAYER GAMES.

Good thing is that XMouse lets you remap keys only for certain applications.

First thing you need to do is press ADD on the bottom left of the program and find Containment breach (CB should be turned on while you do this so that XMouse can read it as a running program)

This is how XMouse looks like and what you need to remap.

The reason why you will put Wheel Up to be left click hold and not double click is GPU strain and the games ability to (not) register really fast inputs. So what this does is every time you start spamming scroll wheel to open doors. pick up items, or use inventory, your GPU won't be flooded with ultra fast double left click inputs, but by fast left click hold inputs (twice as less inputs).

The next thing you need to do is smooth out the experience, since you're telling your mouse to hold left click, you need something that tells it when to stop holding it. Good thing is you can easily do it on XMouse.

What you need to do is go to XMouse SETTINGS on the bottom left of the program and go to ADVANCED options. The third option from the top is Reset sticky buttons when any other KEY is pressed (NOT BUTTON. KEY.) I put CPU priority to be Realtime too but I'm not sure if that does anything. You can also tick Remember current layer when restarting in the general options.

Everything should look like this.

After you do all this, you can try dropping some items on the ground and scroll wheel to pick them up just so you can see the difference in the picking up speed and responsiveness of everything in the game.

This is a demonstration of me doing it.

I hope this helps someone, this can save a lot of time in your saves. I'm not sure if this can be used in speedruns since it's considered using third party software, but switching from left clicking to scrolling for using items made the game a lot faster paced for me. Of course, left clicking still works, after you do all this you can still use left click for menu navigation, keypads and other stuff in the game.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day.

I've made Containment Breach bluer

If you too for some reason want your Containment Breach to look blue, look no further

I would appreciate any criticism, I wanted to make my game to look a bit cleaner, so I made this. I also really like the color blue, that's one of the main motives to this "texture pack" (it's just more minimalist menus and a buncha blue stuff i made on photoshop)

Check it out if you want to !

Is there a way I can make it more blue? Tell me your ideas.

I find the visibility in this game to be really bad...

People keep telling me I should use the SNAV when I play, but I find it quite distracting.

I play on inverted mouse, could that be the issue?

Is it because I selected the red letter mode when starting the game and not the green one?
