small container experiment
I got these 4.5” x 12” terracotta pipes at a garage sale, and I want to try putting some plants in them that will be okay with the growing conditions.
3 higher pipes: little bluestem
3 lower pipes: lanceleaf coreopsis
both are native to my area
Afternoon shade currently starts at 2pm (pic 1). they’re all in the shade by 3p. They also will get intermittent shade before that from two trees.
Can you poke holes in this plan? Terrible idea? Worth trying, just for fun?

This will be year 3 of growing these, and they’re very happy back here.
I dug up close to 50 lbs of tubers from this spot but left some to grow again. I left a lot more than I thought I did, but I cannot complain. I am happy with them taking over.
