Where have all the reasonably priced used carriers gone?
I know this has been ranted on about before but I'm wanting to find a used onbuhimo to try and I am blown away by these b/s/t FB pages. What on earth is with the crazy prices in the used baby carrier groups (mainly Happy Baby and Sakura Bloom)?! Like here's my 7 year old used carrier, that I got 2nd hand, it's got some stains and is play quality, best I can do is $120. Oh and if you could use PP friends and family so I can also skirt paying fees but you can tack on 3% if you'd rather do goods and services. I can get a new one for $165 and possibly score a deal for one on sale.
Side rant - play quality, why is that the word of choice... vs what, collector quality? Although there are for sure some crazy collectors out there. I just saw a post where someone had 25 of the same carriers, 7 were basically the same color.... what do you even do with that many?! I can see having 2 or 3. And then they talk about baby wearing days coming to an end but they're going to hold on to a couple to cherish. Your children do not want you to hoard that stuff, I promise.
And the MMAO posts.... so you want to sell it and you have a price in mind BUT you're really hoping someone will offer more than that. And you reserve the right to reject an offer. Just list your price and sell the dang thing. It's a piece of cloth. Let it be loved by another baby and help a mama out in the process.
I'm big on buying second hand, better for the environment, better for my wallet (usually), but I feel like buying new is the most logical way to go. I think I'm just too stubborn to support the price gouging in the b/s/t groups.
