Kari Me baby carrier?

Hello,

has anyone tried a kari me carrier or know anything about it? Are stretchy wraps like this recommended for older (9m) babes? Just want to make sure I’m using something safe and well rated, and I can’t find anything out there about these ones. thank you!

Woven wrap into ring sling?

I got what I thought was a ring sling off of FB marketplace, but it turned out to be a long woven wrap (4.2m) and two pretty small rings (about 7cm in diameter) by Little Frog.

I tried turning it into a makeshift ring sling by folding it down the middle and threading it through both rings, then using the two ends like you would use the one tail of a regular ring sling, but the fabric is way too thich to pass twice through rings this size. Even if it did, it gets real bulky real fast.

Now I'm contemplating what to do. Should I just keep the wrap and use it as is (and get another fabric for DIY-ing a ring sling with the rings)? Are 7cm rings even enough for a ring sling really? I also thought of cutting up this wrap to have a good size for a ring sling and sewing it to the rings, and then the other half could be maybe used as a doula scarf (not me already thinking of a potential second baby...). Are there ways to wear a woven wrap with the rings that's not the ring sling way?

I already have a long stretchy wrap, but the baby is getting too heavy and keeps sliding down unless I really tighten it, and it's getting way too hot to wrap him that tightly. At the same time he can't sit on his own still so many wrap options are not yet possible for us.

What is this part for?

Hi guys! Just got my Tula carrier and I have no clue what one of the parts is for. Looks like it should be at the back but no idea what is the function and how to clip it as I don’t see anything for the buttons for it. I watched multiple YouTube videos and no mention of this part. Can anyone advise?

Help with didyklick

I just got a didyklick and really like it but my baby seems to be less enthused. She started crying and pushing away when I sit her in there. Takes a few minutes walking outside to calm her down. Doesn't have anything to do with the footsie Pyjamas, she does that with trousers and socks as well.

I tried tying the cloth over her bum to give her more stability but she hated that even more and wouldn't stop crying at all.

She's well used to being carried and never behaved like that. She's been happy in stretchy wraps and also full buckle carriers and whatever the marsupi classic is (mehdai with velcro?). Is it her age? She's 4 months now.

Also, no matter what carrier I use, my baby is never sitting straight. One leg is always slightly higher than the other. What am I doing wrong?

Where have all the reasonably priced used carriers gone?

I know this has been ranted on about before but I'm wanting to find a used onbuhimo to try and I am blown away by these b/s/t FB pages. What on earth is with the crazy prices in the used baby carrier groups (mainly Happy Baby and Sakura Bloom)?! Like here's my 7 year old used carrier, that I got 2nd hand, it's got some stains and is play quality, best I can do is $120. Oh and if you could use PP friends and family so I can also skirt paying fees but you can tack on 3% if you'd rather do goods and services. I can get a new one for $165 and possibly score a deal for one on sale.

Side rant - play quality, why is that the word of choice... vs what, collector quality? Although there are for sure some crazy collectors out there. I just saw a post where someone had 25 of the same carriers, 7 were basically the same color.... what do you even do with that many?! I can see having 2 or 3. And then they talk about baby wearing days coming to an end but they're going to hold on to a couple to cherish. Your children do not want you to hoard that stuff, I promise.

And the MMAO posts.... so you want to sell it and you have a price in mind BUT you're really hoping someone will offer more than that. And you reserve the right to reject an offer. Just list your price and sell the dang thing. It's a piece of cloth. Let it be loved by another baby and help a mama out in the process.

I'm big on buying second hand, better for the environment, better for my wallet (usually), but I feel like buying new is the most logical way to go. I think I'm just too stubborn to support the price gouging in the b/s/t groups.

Does it still make sense to buy a ring sling (7 months)?

I've been curious about ring slings and I'm interested in getting one.. but my LO is 7 months old. A friend of mine who I saw using her sling with her newborn said that she really only use her sling with newborns, otherwise it hurt her shoulder/back.

I was thinking ring slings were potentially better for slightly older babies. If I buy one now, will I realistically get enough time out of it to justify it?

Help me choose a carrier please! Advice needed :)

Hey all, I’m pregnant with my second and need a good carrier. I used the solly wrap for the first couple months and husband used a now outdated/no longer available ergo carrier. I never found the ergo carrier super comfortable - I’m 5 feet tall and husband is over 6 foot.

Parameters:

Needs to be usable from just a few weeks old until 25ish pounds. We stopped wearing our daughter when she was 18 months and about that weight. I don’t want to have to wait until baby is 3/4 months old before I can use the carrier. I love the wrap but really want a carrier that is easy to throw on in the parking lot at school pick up or the park.

Needs to have an X back option. I just find that H buckle back is always uncomfortable on me bc I’m so short - if you have one you like and you’re short with narrow shoulders I’m open to hearing about it!

No need for outward facing and honestly I don’t even need to back carry, but it’s a nice plus.

I was looking at the Lark but I’m just worried the panel will be too tall. My first kid was very long and by 2 months probably would have fit but idk how tall this one will be! Arial looks ok but a bit bulky?

Should I just wait and see how long my baby ends up and then order a lark if she will likely fit early on??

There isn’t a carrier trial meet up anywhere near me. I don’t want to buy something like the ergo embrace just to stop using it after 3 months and then need another carrier lol. Or maybe that’s what I should do??? I’m so lost hahaha HELP

Edit to add - I think an apron fit would be better than the waterfall fit bc I’m so short??

Back carry feels low - Fave ombohimos?

Hey folks, we have an 8 mo old who is ready for a back carry but he’s not high up enough for his preference on my husband or I. If world facing wasn’t so tough in them he’d be world facing all the time. Do folks find ombohimos are better bc they are higher up, for babies who are deeply curious and love to take in info? Am I right that they are higher up? What’s your favorite ombohimo if so?

Am I a Dunce?

I was gifted this beautiful hybrid Lenny Lamb carrier over a year ago and it has sat pretty much unused since then, being passed over for other carriers whose fit I prefer.

What am I doing wrong? The carrier itself feels amazing but every time I wear it, it’s off within 15 minutes. As I stand here writing this post, I’m already driven crazy by how uncomfortable the band is on my stomach.

My dilemma is this: I don’t like how the sides are open so my baby seems exposed to the world, the band on my stomach has no padding (am I just missing something?), the weight distribution feels off (more in the shoulders/lower back), and overall in order to get a snug-ish fit, I have to crank the ties until it feels like I’m being squeezed.

Any tips? I’m sure part of this is incompetence or user error. Despite good intentions, I rarely use it. Should I try sewing it into a traditional soft structured carrier? Am I just a dunce? I appreciate any input!

Not looking for a fit check just finally got my hands on this limited Lenny lamb Jurassic park princess with glitter! How gorgeous

(I know the ring is slightly low, just breaking it in abit so it will get easier to pull through the rings) it’s hot pink on the other side with white dinos and glitter and white with pink dinos on the other with glitter too 😍 I have it reversed as i prefer a right shoulder carry currently

Fit check - 3 mo in lille

Can someone please tell me if I’m wearing him right? He’s 3 months old, and the carrier is a lille baby carrier. I’m not sure what the exact model is as I bought it secondhand. Thank you in advance!

Introducing the LarKin!

(Lark + Heritage Kin) I was disappointed and how limited the Lark was, no matter what my kid could not have arms out, the chest strap was awkward. I added panel adjusters, made a chest strap and actually took out a few stitches by the waistband so I can thread a shoelace through and cinch the seat narrower - it didn't fit my kid until they were almost 9 months old which is ridiculous.

(plus a wrist wallet to hold the chest straps when I'm not using them)

Ring Sling Fit Check - 5 Weeks

Hi! FTM looking for advice on my Sakura Bloom ring sling. Here are the things I believe are wrong and what I’m looking for advice on specifically - but of course any and all education very welcome!

- Shoulder fabric needs to be capped over for comfort - I tried to do this a bit as shown in the last sling photo but once I had her in it was really hard to adjust because it was tight. Do I need to do this upfront before putting her in?
- sling fabric is really high up under my armpit - is that a problem created by my other fit issues or is it normal?
- seat doesn’t seem deep enough? She did seem secure but I don’t feel comfortable pulling the fabric up between our bodies like I’ve seen suggested. I think my solution here is to just try doing it, but I couldn’t quite figure that out for some reason it didn’t feel right.
- my baby had redness on her legs after I wore her for about 30 minutes. Is this from heat (I wore her inside in AC) or is it from the sling being too tight?
- I’m not sure I adjusted the fabric correctly across her back? Generally speaking the fit was a lot tighter than I expected but I had anxiety that it wouldn’t hold her (I kept a hand on her butt other than the photos), so maybe i over did it in tightening?

Finally, when does a ring sling actually start to feel like a “quick up and down”? I’ve only put her in twice but it takes so much effort in the mirror and careful adjustments so my baby gets upset every time. I can’t imagine it ever being quick enough to use for an errand or anything outside of the house, it already feels cumbersome at home 😭 but I know I just need to practice so I’m curious how steep the learning curve actually is.

Help with woven wrap

I bought a woven wrap. I want to love it. I have a special needs child with low muscle tone. He's 15 months old and barely sitting independently. I really need to put him on my back because he has a twin who is always on the go. Leaving his brother in the stroller or with someone else is absolutely breaking my heart when we're at the park or going outside to play, but he's too big for me to keep a safe eye on his brother in a front carry now. I've tried 4-5 times to wrap him. I've tried front wrap cross carry and ruck. I can't get a seat in either. Or if I do, everything else is too loose. I can't get the baby on my back well because of the low muscle tone. I want to make sure he's safe. I've watched a lot of videos, but I can't figure it out. I tried hip scooting. It was the only way I could get a seat, but I couldn't get him high enough. I lost the seat on his way up. The superman toss gets him high enough, but I can't see what I'm doing to get the fabric under him. Any good tips? Is there a carry that is easier to use that I can still safely put him on my back with? I would really like to keep him close and included in what we're doing, so I could get another carrier that would work while I continue practicing with the woven wrap.

Fit check! Ring sling

12 week old baby. Trying to get used to the ring sling for easy up and downs but I’m not sure either of us are super comfy yet, idk if I’m getting a good seat for her.

Fit check

I’m a FTM of an 8 week old. I would really really like to baby wear her , but I’m not very confident doing it myself . I wore her on a solly wrap a few weeks ago, my husband helped me put her in and take her out. am I wearing her correctly? any tips to make this easier to do by myself?

Fit check: FWCC with shoulder flip

This is my first attempt at a woven carry. (The wrap is an Oscha roses ceremony for you wrap nerds out there!) Baby is 10 weeks and currently asleep. I tried a FWCC and pretty soon it felt uncomfortable on my neck, so I flipped the shoulders out. How does it look? I wonder, is the top rail too loose? She feels pretty secure. I worry if I tightened it, it would dig into her neck.
