I am trying to configure my Dell OptiPlex 5040 to use the classic S3 sleep mode (“Suspend to RAM”) and wake up again by pressing a key on the keyboard.

At the moment, it seems to use a different sleep state or possibly Modern Standby. I already checked the BIOS for settings such as “Deep Sleep,” “Wake on USB,” and similar options, but I am not sure which combination is required.

My questions are:

1. Does the OptiPlex 5040 officially support S3 sleep mode?
2. If yes, which BIOS and Windows settings need to be enabled or disabled?

System:

• Dell OptiPlex 5040
• Windows 10
• USB keyboard
