bike dies when i give throttle (odd)

suzuki gsx400e, mikuni b34

i start it, i give it some throttle, it was fine (besides feeling a tiny bit delayed)

but i left it idling for like 20 sec then gave it throttle and then it died

recently cleaned btw, my theory is that its not tuned right, but what would i loosen/tighten, fuel mix? air mix? etc

recently went from a 42.5 pilot to a 40.0 pilot which isnt ideal but it was all they had in stock

noob here btw

odd request from mechanic

i went to a place to get 42.5 pilotjets, he gave me a 40 and told me its possible to fit it if you loosen the "mixscrew" (idk how to translate it) by 0.5

can someone fact check? guy sounded like he knew what he was on about and i'm a noob but it still sounds so weird to have a smaller pilot than the original
