Which companions should I take?
I’m restarting Baldur’s Gate One Enhanced Edition because my first attempt was an absolute struggle. I was a regular human paladin and was level one about to enter Nashkel Mines. I’d had Imoen (obviously), xzar and montaron, Khalid and Jaheira, Neera, Garrick, Rasaad, and Branden all recruited but was still having a very difficult time. I made the choice to try again after a while and am debating just playing on easy but I want to know which companions I should prioritize.
As a paladin I’m sticking to a good/nuetral playthrough and I just and unsure who I should bring along especially considering the fact that XP is split among members in this game. I’m aware certain companions will leave based of reputation and I’m not very fond of how you have to go back to the exact spot where you left them to recruit them again, (excluding Neera), so I was hoping to reduce the amount of companions so I didn’t get all 25.
I’ve heard that it could be smart to only use the canon party, but I also don’t want to miss out on important content, so if anyone could please give me some recommendations I would appreciate it. 🙏
