32 year old female looking for advice
I went to my yearly physical yesterday and my labs were as follows: AST 108, ALT 39, Alkphos 109, bilirubin 0.4, albumin 4.5, cholesterol 233, HDL 95. All other labs normal including CBC. Last year AST was 35 and ALT was 47 and alkphos was normal and prior to that everything has always been normal. I am having some dull RUQ and right flank ache that just started. I’ve been drinking quite a bit this summer (about 1/2-1 bottle of wine per day on average since May). Prior to that was about a glass of wine a day for a 5-7 years. I’ve been sober a week now and plan to never drink again. I really never considered my drinking problematic (clearly it was) and I’m a bit in shock. Pretty much socially drank this summer even tho it’s a high amount with my husband and friends. My question is, what are my chances looking like? Am I doomed for cirrhosis fibrosis with this? If I quit and stay quitting will I fully reverse this? How likely is it reversible steatosis or fatty liver? I am obviously frustrated with my self and embarrassed. I’m repeating a hepatic function panel in 7 weeks to reassess and then plan to ask for imaging at that time.
