Any why to force steam photos to open in 16:9 instead of 9:16?
Why all steamchat Videos and Photo Attachments Play in Portrait Mode Instead of Landscape.
A lot of messaging and chat apps automatically display media based on the orientation metadata stored inside the file. Even when a video was recorded horizontally (landscape)
Because of this mismatch, vertical videos occupy only a small central portion of a widescreen monitor while leaving large empty spaces on the sides, on the end of the line nothing is readable.
I would like to draw attention to a problem I am experiencing with the current vertical (portrait) display of the chat environment. For me, this form of presentation is very taxing, because virtually all content is displayed narrow and tall, whereas I naturally process information horizontally — similar to how our eyes are positioned side by side and how a monitor is normally set up in landscape format.
Due to the constant portrait display, I notice, among other things:
faster mental fatigue;
difficulty maintaining an overview during conversations;
increased sensory overload;
concentration problems during longer chats;
physical complaints such as tension in the neck, eyes, and head;
the feeling of having to constantly scroll and refocus.
A wider landscape display is calmer, more natural, and clearer to read for me. In its current form, it feels as if information is being artificially compressed, which can cause stress and overload in the long run.
I would therefore like to request:
support for landscape mode; with videos and photos in chat;
an option for wider chat windows;
or a setting that allows users to adjust the reading direction and screen layout themselves. I think that this would greatly improve accessibility, comfort, and readability, not only for me but also for other users.
photos 9:16 instead of 16:9
Sorry, but I can’t really use the launcher as intended, because my eyes are next to each other, not above each other.
