off ground housing

I’m entering UVA as a sophomore/transfer and deciding between The Flats at West Village and The Standard.

If any of you live or have lived at either of these two places, which one would you say is more convenient for everyday life as an undergrad and is less pricey after fees?

J term in Paris financial aid

Hi! I’m a low-income student and I’m really interested in doing a J-Term study abroad program in Paris. For anyone who has done a J-Term/study abroad program with financial aid, what did your financial aid package actually look like?

I’m trying to understand what was covered vs. what you still had to pay out of pocket. Did grants/scholarships cover most of it, or did you still need loans or savings? Any advice from low-income students who made it work would be really helpful.

off campus housing

Hey guys, I’m an incoming transfer student at UVA for Fall 2026 and I’m currently looking for housing 😭
I’m trying to find an apartment with:

my own bathroom and bathroom

furnished

not super old/outdated

relatively close to UVA

Right now the main thing I’ve found is The Flats at West Village, but it’s coming out to around $1300+ a month after fees/utilities and that’s honestly a lot 💀
Does anyone know other apartments/buildings I should look into that might be a little cheaper but still decent quality? Thanks!!

I just got into the College of Arts & Sciences, and I’m a low-income student (eligible for a Pell Grant with an SAI of -1500). If I receive a full financial aid package and decide to live off campus, would I receive a refund before the semester starts to help pay for housing?

Also, if there are any current low-income students here, what has your financial aid package been like, and when & how much do you usually receive in refunds each semester?
