People just say the darnedest things

I wanted to post this interesting exchange between two individuals, one claiming the government provides wage subsidy to temporary foreign workers and newcomers, which in-turn incentivizes employers to choose them instead of locals/whites/Canadians for job openings. And another person claiming that newcomers are eligible for such wage subsidies ( illustrated in the last screenshot) and that Canadians getup to 50% wage subsidy while the newcomers are taxed.

I am all for healthy arguments. But one cannot pretend the conversation did not happened once the truth is out.

Newcomers/ temp foreign workers are different from refugees. And therefore they are not eligible for any of the subsidies offered for employement. Newcomers often spend a lot of money to come here, so they aim to get higher paying jobs. Which also means they will no longer be eligible for GST benefits, rental support, grocery support, etc. Hoever, they do have to pay tax on their income like everybody else.

It is ok if someone is happy with their incomes. But in a country that is facing productivity issues, the employer will always look for efficient ways to hire.

If it works for the government, if it works for the employers, and if it works for job seekers may be they are not the problem.
