Could this be a destroying angel? Found in central New Jersey

My wife and I found this mushroom in a wooded area in central New Jersey in mid-August. It was growing by itself in leaf litter.
It has a smooth white cap and crowded white gills, but I didn’t notice an obvious skirt/ring on the stem. Unfortunately, I pulled it instead of digging around the base, so the volva or bulb may have been left underground. The stem also broke during transport.
Could this be Amanita bisporigera or another destroying angel species? We did not eat any of it—just curious about the identification.
