Freelance Transcriptionist — Akan

1. Role Overview

You will transcribe 2-speaker, channel-separated audio recordings in Akan. Each file has two clearly separated speakers. Your job is to produce a clean, accurate, sequentially ordered transcript with speaker labels and timestamps.

2. What You Will Do

  • Listen to 2-speaker audio recordings in Akan
  • Type out what each speaker says, accurately and in full
  • Label each speaker turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, matching the audio channel
  • Add timestamps at the start of each speaker turn (format: HH:MM:SS)
  • Ensure transcripts are sequential with no unexplained gaps

3. Requirements

  • Native or near-native fluency in Akan (spoken and written)
  • Strong written Akan — accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to work independently and meet daily output targets
  • Access to a computer with a stable internet connection
  • Availability for at least 4 hours per day
  • Prior transcription experience is a plus but not required — all contributors must pass a qualification test

4. Quality Standard

  • Word Error Rate (WER) of 5% or less on all delivered transcripts
  • Zero speaker label errors — Speaker 1 must always correspond to Channel 1
  • Transcripts reviewed on a rolling basis; feedback provided promptly
  • Files that do not meet the quality threshold will be returned for correction

Project Details & Compensation:
This is a manual audio transcription project for the Akan language. Onboarding is rolling, meaning you can start as soon as you are qualified.

Earn up to $1200 in only one month if you work 8 hours a day. (Pay rate for transcribed and diarized audio hour is $5 - Working hours: Audio hours ratio is dependent on your efficiency)

How do you swallow your drugs?

I'm curious how people in the diaspora swallow drug tablets and pills. I've noticed in movies it's always the drugs first then water to push it down. Is that always so abroad? Personally, I like to have a little water in my mouth, swallow the drugs and then push it down with more water. Btw, my Ghanaian brothers/sisters reading this, how do you take your meds.

I've also been curious how the whites wipe their butts... 😅 Do they stand/sit? Do they use the left hand too?

Speed dating YT videos for Ghanaians

Does anybody here watch Nectar Swipe or Swap on YouTube? If you do, the you may know Cruise's version, 50 singles go speed dating but for the Nigerian audience.

I'm wondering why isn't there a Ghanaian version of this. I've seen this Ghanaian YouTuber Mayoral Dhope do something similar (more comedic than usual), and the views are crazy even for a YouTube Channel with 26k subs.

This real speed dating niche is a good one. Not the 'pop the balloon' type video. It's one where 25 single guys and 25 single girls come in person to find a date match, go on a speed date for 5mins and either reject or accept to go on a second date at the end of the show on their own.

I would rather watch this than TV3's sh*tty Date Rush (no offense tho). Gen Z's need a better alternative to meet and find love.

Anyone down to start this kind of content?

Internet Speed on Telecel Fibre Broadband

Telecel mobile data is bad around my area in Takoradi. It's even worse when there's black out and this frustration is forcing me to actually to buy their fibre broadband tomorrow.

If you use a Telecel Fibre, could you please help me know its speed? Maybe you could run it through Speedtest by Ookla at https://speedtest.net/

I'm just tired of failing remote work interviews because of internet tests. Also, I cannot get a Starlink at this moment, in the near future I will.

In case you're wondering about the remote work, kindly checkout hiring.cafe

Help and thanks
