Or is it just a thing for Mystra's chosen? Is it even a thing for all of Mystra's Chosen? Is Volo immortal for example despite being just a bard that Mystra has taken an interest in for some reason?

I kind of assumed most of the "immortal" ones were just powerful wizards but it seems even those will die natural deaths eventually (Gromph, while not a Chosen is only alive because of his amulet for example).

I haven't read The Lady Penitent yet (any opinions on it?)

It feels ironic that House Melarn, led by one of the most insanely devote servants of Lolth, is named after Haalistra Melarn who became The Lady Penitent because she had become so wishy washy on her service of Lolth?
