Mounted to high?

Hi, the engine sputters a lot at full throttle. It’s probably mounted too high. What do you think?
When I trim the Mercury a little higher using the rod that controls the trim angle, the boat starts to bounce during high acceleration.

Oil Seals oder Shaft Seals Merc 40hp 2 stroke

Hey guys, quick question: If I buy the lower water pump base for my Mercury 40HP, are the two oil seals already pre-installed/pressed into the housing from the factory, or do I have to press them in myself? Thanks!

Thermostat?

Does a Mercury 40 HP 2-stroke 4-cylinder outboard have a thermostat?
Hey guys,
I’m trying to diagnose cooling issues on my Mercury 40 HP 2-stroke (4-cylinder) outboard. Ca 1988-1991
Some people say these engines have a thermostat, others say they don’t depending on the model/year.
Can anyone confirm if this engine typically comes with a thermostat, or if some versions run without one?
Also, where exactly is it located if it does have one?
Thanks in advance!

Broken temperature sender/overheat switch on '89-'91 Mercury 40hp 4-cylinder 2-stroke – Can I replace it without pulling the head?

Hi everyone,
I have a Mercury 40hp 4-cylinder 2-stroke outboard (roughly 1989–1991). Currently, my Quicksilver control box is emitting a continuous beep as soon as the key is turned on.
I found a broken, heavily corroded wire right next to spark plug. It looks like the temperature sender / overheat switch. Since it’s corroded and potentially grounding out, I suspect this is what's triggering the constant alarm.
Two quick questions for the experts here:

Is this broken sensor indeed the reason for the continuous Quicksilver alarm?

Can I remove and replace this sensor from the outside, or do I need to pull the cylinder head/water cover?

Any tips on how to extract the old one safely would be awesome. Thanks!

20 cm crack in fiberglass hull (below waterline) – what should I do?

What should I do about a 20 cm crack in the fiberglass hull of my Hammermeister Manta?
Found it after buying the boat. Seller says he didn’t know about it.
Details:
~20 cm long crack
up to ~5 mm open
below the waterline
rest of hull feels solid

My idea for repair:
grind into V-shape
sand wide area
epoxy + fiberglass layers
cure, sand, seal

Is this a normal DIY repair or something serious that needs a yard?
Would you trust a repair like this long-term?
