So fed up of tourists.. rant incoming
I've been in different fan spaces for the last 30 years, whether it was comics, rpgs, sci-fi, manga, anime and I loved it as it was presented to me. For example I have all 8 books of Chobits (loved it despite people whining about the dresses on Chii and Freya), loved both OG Psylocke and Ninja Psylocke (even with the purple leotard) And more recently Black Butler.
Tell me why people keep changing what I loved about the fandom I was in to something safe and boring. I don't care that Electra wore a leotard in the snow, she's a great character and I like looking at hot women. I'm not threatened by the existence of a hot woman in media. If you're argument is 'well men might objectify us irl' then its up to you irl to tell them to grow up and deal with reality.
Hell I absolutely adore Lily's plunge dress from Legend... Just because I can't wear it in reality, doesn't mean that I hate people who can.
But now thanks to people being bored during covid.. we have tons of tourists/normies invading fandoms that were fine and changing them.
Oh no, we can't have sexy females being badass, we can't accept that men 'and women' like to look at attractive things, no you must like sludge.
And as for triggers and stuff. I played Vampire in 1998 with a warning that said 'this is a game with mature themes, don't be a dick in real life' as a content warning. Now you open a modern game and there's a two page spread about people's triggers and safe spaces and how to roleplay 'nicely'.
And that's leaving aside the fanfic stuff.. I have fics I dislike, I don't like mpreg and alphaverse, but I don't read that stuff. I don't run around screeching how its bad and people should stop it.
Can fandom be niche again... please for the love of god
