I joined the af in hopes of going to space some day, hearing that this was one of the only ways. Recently found out chances of NASA sending people into space in the future is unlikely, as the only ways ppl have gone to space recently is through private companies. Crushed that I wasted my life working towards this dream only for it to not help me towards my goal of being an astronaut at all. Putting this here to warn others

What the title said. been seeing a lot of posts where op’s have been complaining about how their family members dont approve of shipping off to the military, and nothing pisses me off more than seeing others comment about how their parents are being selfish for not wanting this in their lives. SAY IT WITH ME: YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS KNOW BETTER THAN STRANGERS ON R/… I cant imagine if my son/daughter made a decision like this without a care in the world about my worries. some of u guys need to get off Reddit and make these decisions with your loved ones. this job is going to affect them more than u. like i said in a different comment, some of u guys need to know what its like being on the other side of this decision, this stress is unbearable in certain scenarios and the way your parents feel should absolutely have u heavily reconsidering. im saying what no one else has the brains to: ppl on Reddit will not be affected by u joining the forces; your family will. then why are u asking reddit your personal question?

I am looking to volunteer at outside lands this summer and was hoping someone can connect me to vendors/booths that need volunteers. Any help is appreciated!
