the enhypen concert in dallas was disappointing
july 17th, i went to the enhypen concert in dallas in their blood saga tour with my mother, aunt, and cousin. we were all really excited because me and my cousin were fans of them naturally, so we got tickets for my mother and my aunt because they were interested as well. It did take us a while to get into the stadium obviously but it would’ve probably been better if they used a better system to get everyone in lol but i digress.
the concert started i think around 7-7:30. the beginning was good. they started out with knife, a few more songs, and introduced themselves. the beginning half was pretty good, but this was when it started to feel a little underwhelming.
they did a total of 2-3 outfit changes which i think is normal. but honestly the production is what got all of us. they only used the big screen behind them and shot a few blasts of fire and confetti sometimes. the props were literally just the elevating stages for each member, and a long table for songs from border: CARNIVAL and dark moon. which, fine, i guess. but it was also again really underwhelming. the screen basically went on for like straight 5 minutes it almost felt like i was watching a movie instead of a performance.
i don’t like comparing but when i went to the skz concert in arlington, the difference was really jarring. they got a whole ass mutant monster inflatable looming over their heads while dancing, crazy effects, and like 30 backup dancers. and they changed their outfits fairly frequently. but for enhy, backup dancers literally came out not even half of the time they were performing. they’re able to hold a performance just by themselves but when it’s just 6 people and a table without any backup dancers to build stage presence it just gets a little awkward.
and for the more popular songs like XO and moonstruck, that was also like.. what? they only did half of XO and didn’t even plan a whole performance of it. it was just treated like a song you’d use for a short encore. which is weird because XO is one of their most popular songs. and moonstruck too. the background was just a dark night and members sung on the t stage. then they went back to the main stage, started dancing out of nowhere, and that was it. like i guess man 🥹 also they didn’t include fever for some reason which is also one of their most popular songs but maybe google lied to me. it did state that fever was in the setlist but they didn’t perform it so 🤷♀️
and the encore. i blame this on myself because i didn’t ask how long the concert was going to be. after like an hour and 45 minutes they were saying the concert was almost done. and i was really confused. after like two songs they said their goodbyes and left and everyone was just waiting for them to randomly pop back up and sing a few more songs before actually saying bye like what skz did. i could tell because the girl next to my mother was just kinda waiting assuming the concert wasn’t actually done. but it only lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.
and finally the members themselves. they’re really good at what they do! they put up a good performance despite the lack of good production. but honestly, they didn’t look the most energetic when they started talking even in the beginning. only jake looked like he actually wanted to be there 😭 which is like i won’t blame them for that. because that was when heeseung left like a few months ago and i bet they were still sad about his departure. but the lack of energy didn’t really even make me wanna stand up for some of the songs anymore. my cousin looked pretty bewildered too.
anyway overall all three of them complained and said it wasn’t the most entertaining compared to other concerts we went to like skz and bts. it honestly seemed like a money grab. because why would you announce a world tour not even a month after heeseung left? and this criticism isn’t out of hatred, because i’ve seen their other concerts and the props are 100x better, and i know they’re hella good. it was the production and how the management handled the concert that fucked them over. either way, i hope anyone who’s going to their next concert has a good time.
the concert is uploaded on youtube, so tell me what you think.
