About time i tell u all this. To me it's one hell of a story. Please read full.
Background: In final year of M.Sc. Physics. Already had a good grasp on maths and reasoning. Started preparing for cgl because i lost interest in physics by the end of first year.
So it was june when i started. My first year was already finished by the end of May and it was summer vacation. Studied well in june and july. Most of the preparation was inclined towards general awareness and mock tests. I gave lots of mocks.
Then that eduquity fiasco came and my classes were also supposed to begin from August. Tbh, I barely attended classes in august because i wanted to give my 100% in cgl. My course suffered a lot of loss because of this but still i didn't attend college much upto mid September.
Then the D-day arrived. 12 sep shift 1. I was a bit thirsty and they didn't allow bottles inside of any kind. By the time exam started i was really thirsty. Somehow i finished my exam and when it finished i realised the thought of water never came in my mind during the exam. Such was the pressure and focus.
Fast forward...the answer keys released. I was expecting in the range of 145-150 and bang...it was only 132. I was sad for an hour so but moved on immediately with no hopes of clearing prelims.
Fast forward to 15 december. My semester exams finished. I had filled form of ECGC PO and started studying for it from 16 December onwards with full belief that i can clear it in 25 days only (exam was on 11 january).
Then the cgl result was released on 18 december. I had no hopes that i would clear it but THERE WAS MY NAME :)))
I was happy and CONFUSED. Because now i had to study for CGL mains as well. Such i was dedicated to ECGC PO. Nevertheless i made strategy and i studied. I have never studied that much and i can never study that much ever again.
Mind you there is descriptive section in ecgc po so i was preparing for that as well. And banking current affairs and whatnot. Somehow i managed to do all this (banking puzzles and cgl preparation alag).
I decided to focus completely on ecgc po from 4 jan to 11 jan. Like no mock of cgl nothing. From 11 jan to 18 jan was the only time i studied for cgl mains solely.
On 18 jan there was typing. My left thumb print couldn't match. They took Right hand thumb's.
On 19 jan even my right thumb's print couldn't match. I was about to cry there and then they did finally after 40 minutes or so. I gathered myself and tried to focus on exam only. Luckily water was available here atleast :). Reasoning went very well. Like a cakewalk. Atp i Felt i could do maths easily as well and that hurt me. Missed last few questions in maths.
English went pretty good as well except for vocab. I never studied vocabulary. General awareness went surprisingly good as well and computer was computer.
Answer key came and i got 68, 90, 119, 45 and 18(UR) in computer. Vocab ke saare tukke galat ho gye. Still regret why did i never learn vocabulary.
What if i had gotten 6 marks more in computer. I would have got gst. But then i think what if i had gotten 1 MARK LESS. Then nothing. Grateful and lucky.
P.S. - Could not clear ecgc po. Got about 145 in pre thanks to some bonus and normalisation. June, july, august and 15 days of (18 dec - 18 jan) because half the time i studied for ecgc but let's just round up to 4 months.
