100 Mocks. The Grind Continues.

Started with 1 mock a day. Since the start of this month, I’ve been pushing 3–4 mocks in a single day.

Solved the entire 2025 PYPs, 12 shifts of 2024 PYPs and about to complete the TestBook Full Tests...

First 10 mocks, the average score was about 97 but most of the syllabus was pending at that time... Now about 90% of Maths is completed, some part of algebra remains.

Guessing Game

I’ve been preparing for SSC CGL for a few months, and in the past, I also cleared JEE Mains and Advanced (barely 😅). One thing I’ve always noticed is how questions are framed and how, based on that framing, guessing can sometimes be a good strategy.

So, I decided to curate a list of a few observations on how you can try to guess answers in exams and see if they work for you. Try them out in PYQ mocks and see what works!

Many of you are probably already familiar with these tricks, please go through them and if you know something else, add them in the comments for others to see.

These are some points I consider while guessing:

1. Leave alone questions that are just straight up fact based, like who won the first Olympic gold medal, either we know it or we don't.
example -

either you know or you don't

2. But things change when answer has a pair of names of anything for example:
This question if from CGL 19 sept-shift-I

go for the one where repeating ones align

if you don't have any idea about this question, look at the option, (c) is twice in first column, (b) is twice in second column, (a) is twice in the third one, and in only one option do they coincide, that would be the best option to guess, and it actually is correct here.

similarly here when there are two components in options.

and another one on column matching form-

some principle different form

3. When 3 options are facing south and only one is to the North, example-

even if you don't have any idea what the question is asking, options can be treated as odd one out

odd one out type options occur very often, especially in English (specifically Vocab)

even when you know meaning of only 3 options, you can get the question correct.

4. If one option is noticeably longer and more explanatory than other option, go for it.

SSC is lazy and will not go lengths to engineer every option.

5. Be vary of extreme keywords

while guessing, look out for extremes like, only, all, none, etc

6. Logically correct

Logic dictates above all

Finally, these tricks are not fool-proof, so do practice with them, and improvise however they suit you.

Thank You!

How do you actually make effective notes while watching maths lectures?

Whenever I start watching a maths lecture, I begin with the mindset that I’ll make notes that will help me revise in the future. But by the end, I end up like this. 😭

So, how do you make effective notes while watching lectures?

Please give me reality check

Hi folks,

I just turned 27 a day before.

I am a Senior Software Engineer with 5.3 yrs of experience. Earning 25 LPA.

My sister is in SBI after 5 years of gap but now has more stability job security wise than me.

And I also got to know the benefits of a govt job.

Just last Monday went to give RRB CEN 09(10th passed) exam without any prep.

Most apti formulae I had forgotten, but have my basics very clear so was able to derive formulae using concepts during exam itself and solve most questions.

So its just about giving time to prep and practicing more(atleast for apti and logical reasoning).

Am thinking to start preparing for central govt jobs with focus on SSC CGL level apti and IBPS level Logical Reasoning.

Please let me know if there is a chance still for me left, practically. Or, is it something I am just being very positive and might get rejected in interviews just because of "you are already earning good in private, why do you need this govt job" type shii question.

Also pls suggest on the books I thought to practice with are correct or no-

Rakesh/Rajesh yadav 7300 MCQs book for apti

Kiran something publication for IBPS logical reasoning MCQs

Thank you

Honestly how does one that wasn’t good at maths during his school days even learn that subject as an adult?

I am honestly trying hard to learn the subject, memorised all the tables till 30, squares, root and all that people suggest before you actually start learning the subject

But this subject kept showing me mirrors after every question, Im currently doing bhutesh sir batch, 3rd video, here he is making us practice questions, first question, he shows a divisibility question, I somehow managed to understand the concept using chatgpt, (he initially made us write down some notes but those notes are simple and even understanding the questions is so hard) then he moved to another question, entirely new concept, maybe basics are same, but those are like 10%, every question is like a new concept to me

After learning first concept, I thought I’ll do good in next few slides because now I know concept and next few questions might be doable, but no, entirely new questions needing new approach,

Aur concept samajh na aye toh one just ends up copy pasting entire question answer on their notebook hoping they’ll be able to recall the metho later when they revisit those same questions, but low-key I know ye kaam nahi ane wala, Ek ghumake question ayga udhar ji ghee khatam ho jani hai meri

It took me 6hours to understand 30mins of his lectures, I was like asking chatgpt to do breakdown after every question which slowed down the process so much, now I feel like if I continue doing this, it might just take years to learn, and that might not lead to anything

I understand ye ssc, banking exams aren’t for everyone, but bhai kare kya sarkari naukri chahiye toh karna padega

Should I follow Lucent over Fatman?

I’m not a beginner in the competitive-exam field. I have already completed Lucent twice, but for some reason, I couldn’t continue my studies for almost a year. Now I’m truly focused only on SSC exams.

I don’t have much knowledge about GK specifically for SSC.

Is it sufficient to study only Lucent for History, Polity, Geography, and Economics?

27F thinking about leaving my Grade B government job to prepare for CAT

I'm a SI (Sub-Inspector) in the CBI. I chose this career path because i was very passionate about it. However, 3 years in this job, i feel done with it. Its hectic, no work life balance, constant travel, raids. I found this thrilling at first but now i feel like i want stability. My sister did MBA from a lower IIM and is earning better than me.

Is it a good decision for me to resign and do CAT prep?? My parents are against this idea because of government job factor. They are telling me to give SSC-CGL again and chose Income Tax Inspector this time.

But salary wise, the ITI pays just the same as CBI SI, if not less. My in hand salary is in the 85k to 95k range. Maybe it will be increased due to the 8th Pay Commision. I do get some respect when i tell people that im in the CBI but frankly im not power or respect hungry.

Im stuck, need outside perspective on this.

Frustration that comes along with joblessness

26 M

I don't think people talk enough about the weird kind of helplessness that comes with unemployment , preparing for competitive exams and still being dependent on your parents for food and shelter, if not money.

I teach, I make my own money, I earn enough to take care of my day to day expenses. If I want to buy something for myself, go out for a meal, pay for my basic needs, etc., I can manage it.

But somehow, that's not the same as being independent.

How many of you feel suffocated at home?

I am technically an adult. I can earn some money. I can take care of certain things yourself.

But my life is still on hold.

I wake up, study teach, come back home, study again, eat, sleep, repeat.

And because I am preparing for an exam there's always this feeling that I can't really start living until I clear it.

I want to go out, but there's a mock test tomorrow. I want to travel, but I need permission. I want to stay out late with friends sometimes, but I know I will not be allowed to. If I try to become rebellious, the environment at home will become toxic. And sometimes, it's not about going out somewhere.

It's about the little things in life.

I can't always wake up when I want to. there's always an exception of when I should wake up, when I should sleep, what I should be doing with my time. If I make plan with my friends, I have to explain where I'm going, who I'm going with, and when I will be back. If I come home late, there's always an interrogation. If I want to go somewhere randomly, there's a discussion.

If I want to spend a day doing absolutely nothing, there’s still an opinion about how I’m wasting my time. And because I’m preparing for an exam, every decision somehow gets connected to my preparation.

"Padhai ka kya hoga?"

I understand it. I really do.

They’re my parents. They worry about me. They’ve supported me, and I’m grateful for that. But sometimes I just want to be able to make decisions about my own life without having to explain every little thing.

I’m 26. I want to date. I want to go on long drives at night. I want to travel with friends. I want to have someone to take out for dinner. I want to own a car and just drive somewhere without having to plan my entire day around whether I’ll be allowed to go. I want to move out eventually and have my own space, my own routine and my own rules. I want to be able to make a few stupid decisions too. I want to learn from my own mistakes instead of having someone constantly trying to protect me from making them.

And I think this is where being an aspirant at this age becomes particularly difficult. You’re old enough to want all of these things, but not necessarily independent enough to have them.

You keep telling yourself: "Bas job lag jaaye."

Then I'll move out. Then I'll travel. Then I'll date. Then I'll buy a car. Then I'll actually start living.

And that's the part that scares me sometimes. How much of my 20s am I spending waiting for my life to begin?

I don't want to blame my parents for everything. I don't think they're trying to ruin my life. But I also don't want to pretend that the lack of freedom doesn't affect me. I can earn enough to take care of myself to an extent. But I still don't have complete control over my own life.

And maybe that's what independence actually means to me now. Not just earning money.

Being able to decide when I wake up. Where I go. Who I meet. When I come home. What I do with my time. Who I date. Where I live. What kind of life I build.

I think that's why clearing CGL has become much more than just getting a government job for me.

It means finally having the freedom to build my own life.

So I'm genuinely curious, especially those of you who are 25–27 and still preparing: Do you guys feel this too? Do you also sometimes feel suffocated living under your parents' rules at this age? Do you ever feel like you're technically an adult, but at home you're still treated like a teenager? Or is it just me? Because some days, honestly, it feels like I'm not just preparing for an exam.

I'm preparing for my life to finally begin.
