Ethical Dismissal? - Help!
Hi,
I am a 1L in law schooll. I am very excited to be here so I shared my essays with a friend. He pointed out a few inconsistencies in my essay that have me freaking out that I might fail the bar or be kicked out by my law school. Can anyone advise me on if this will be an issue?
I spent a portion of my essay talking about living "at the intersection of marginalized identities" and "writing to you from the Blackest neighborhood in NY." I spend a lot of time in this neighborhood and have an affinity/passion for the community, but I am white and don't live there. The marginalized identities part was supposed to refer to me being bisexual and poor.
According to my laughing friend he thinks it implies I am Black, when I was just being an ally. I can see how it might read that way, but I never say I am Black or make any blatantly false statements. Any advice? Could this hurt me later?
