Advice for getting into photography

My gf wants to get into photography, she specially mentioned portraits. So I want to get her a camera + lens as a gift but I have no idea at all what to look for and where!

My budget is around $1500 and I want something that is not too big/heavy. I tried asking chatgpt but it gets confusing with which lens fits which camera model + I don't really know which stores in Lebanon offer good prices

Meghterbin that came back to live in Lebanon, who is happy and who is regretting the decision?

I noticed a few posts mentioning this as well as other posts from people trying everything to leave :P

So I am just curious, how is it going for those who came back after they've been living abroad.

I will start:

I lived in Europe for 5 years or so then decided to come back last year, I needed 2 more years for citizenship but it wasn't worth it for me. The main reasons I left: (1) Taxes and the whole economic situation. (2) Spending time with family and friends, my parents aren't getting any younger and seeing my mom's tears when I am leaving for the airport... Just ain't worth it

After a year in Lebanon: I have no regrets at all, nafsiyte merteha w I am happy. The future looks more promising for me than the dead end job and crazy taxes in Europe but I know that won't be the case for everyone.

Anyone knows any honnest financial consultant?

Getting your shit together in this country isn't easy. When I think about a retirement plan or the best way to save or build wealth with my income, I feel hesitant and I am always questioning if I am doing all the wrong stuff.

I try to diversify my savings but it's built mainly on guessing, I need someone to take a look at what I am doing and help me come up with a better plan. I looked online for financial consultants like "Atlantis", but they re all selling an insurance policy or something else, and I fear that I will end up with a product recommendation to something they are selling.

Bookstore in Jbeil

So I thought I already had this book and was planning to start reading it this weekend for a book club, but it turns out I never actually bought it. I live in Jbeil, so I just opened google maps and searched for a "bookstore." I was really surprised that I didn't find anything... Just Malik for stationery and printing stuff for LAU students, and a couple of places that sell academic books and only stock what school/uni students need.

I hope I'm missing something. I thought this was مدينة الحرف? 😂😂😂 Oh, the hypocrisy... This tells you a lot about our society honestly
