Pata hai aaj kya hua, After 1.5 years of no contact, I got a call from someone I used to consider a friend.

He said his mother had a heart attack and urgently needed Rs.20K.

I said "Nahi hai bhai".

Technically, I could have arranged it , "withdrawing from credit card", somehow managing - but I didn’t. I told him I don’t have the money, we exchanged a couple of formal lines, and ended the call.

Here’s the part that’s messing with my head:

He’s been working in Saudi for the last 2 years, earning well

He still hasn’t returned Rs.6,500 I gave him 2-3 years ago

I asked him 3 separate times for that money - once when I genuinely needed it for my coaching fees

Every time: “salary aane do”, “next month pakka”, and then nothing

So in that moment, I chose logic over emotion.

But now? I feel like shit.

I keep thinking - what if it was real? What if his mother actually needed help and I refused over Rs.6.5K from the past? Am I being petty? Or just protecting myself?

It’s weird - I don’t even trust him, yet I feel guilty like I failed some basic human test.

Trying to figure out:

Was this the right call, or did I just become the kind of person I wouldn’t respect?

Would like to hear how others see this.
