ABS/ASC problems return with the hotter weather
Hellol everyone, it's not my first post for this problem but I haven't found a solution a year later. Now with the warmer days, ASC problems have returned.
Looking for some input on a weird ABS/ASC issue I’ve been chasing on my 1997 520i (M52, automatic). It has the early Bosch 5.0 ABS module (1164130).
Here’s what’s happening:
First thing in the morning, everything is fine — no lights, no weird behavior.
After some driving, especially once the car is fully warmed up, I start to feel the ABS activating unnecessarily at very low speeds — like when braking from ~10 km/h to a stop.
Not long after and not every time, both the ABS and ASC lights come on.
I believe it’s heat-related. I’ve even created a heat shield and placed it around the the ABS module (above the manifold) just in case.
I scanned with INPA and got repeated wheel speed sensor errors for the front left wheel also error numbers :215 signalkobimantion uplausibel, ofcourse number 7 drehzahlfuehler vorne links, 67 temporaere einstreuung and once i got number 4 drehzalfueler hinten links. That’s the odd part:
I’ve replaced all four sensors over the past two years. I checked with live data and everyone is working fine.
Could the ASC module be failing internally when hot? (I thought those earlier ones weren't prone to this issue). I spoke to a rebuilder and he told me to send the black module by the valve body for rebuild but I just tried to remove it and it seems to be one body with the pump (part number 34511090911), i think it cannot be seperated, rather have to remove it together wwith the valve body.
Would appreciate any advice from folks who’ve dealt with similar intermittent ABS/ASC issues — especially if heat seemed to be a factor. I have got a few photos if they're helpful. Thanks alot
