Loving my Days!
Kudos to the Days writers for creating a great couple of weeks of May Sweeps cliffhangers.
Many loyal viewers tend to criticize on what's wrong with our soaps (Days included), but I have to tip my hat to the headwriters on what's going well: I have been really enjoying the ride on the HOURGLASS Soap.
First off, the Sofia Choi fallout involving so many characters in Salem has been must see TV in my household. Kudos to Rachel Boyd (Sofia) and Stacy Haiduk (Kristen) for delivering on the mayhem.
Spotlight on Miss Boyd for bringing the humanity to Sofia and showing the broken human side of what could have been a cartoonish character. Rachel (and the writers) balanced her deadpan delivery with also some tragic and heartbreaking moments. Also appreciated the PSA moment when Ari distinguished Holly’s verbiage of « committing suicide » vs « dying by suicide ». I learned something.
Regarding the Daytime Emmys: I hope Stacy submits for all the Rachel Brady courtroom drama material and Rachel Boyd submits for her turn as Sofia ( scenes: delivering her baby alone, giving up her baby, the final show down with Holly, and then writing the suicide note).
The will reading scenes today were fun to watch with all the Dimeras and Marlena gathering to hear who would get what. Anna was the voice of the audience as she lamented "Another Stefano will and testament reading?!! " Leann Hunley lights up every scene she is in as does the actress who plays Rita. Nice touch seeing Harold the live-in butler. Also loved the Horton Square showdown between Kristen and Marlena especially when they drudged up old history and go toe to toe. Man, I'm going to miss Stacy Haiduk when she departs Days. Love watching her act.
Also, loved Jeremy and now Joy in the mix. Both strong and subtle actors.
Lastly, the fallout from today's cliffhanger should make for a fun and chaotic week next week.
Regardless of how you feel about NuLexie, I'm here for it and I'm enjoying Days. I just know where this soap was two-three years ago and am so much happier now not having to watch Body & Soul or the Death Orchid storylines
