Verbal component ideas for Thaumaturgy
I've been thinking about this minute detail for about 5 minutes and it's sort of a tricky problem.
Thaumaturgy is mostly about manifesting spooky and intimidating magical effects, right? Or at least about your character giving themself some special gravitas.
It's also cast with a verbal component. (I expected a somatic component before I went and checked, honestly)
So what I'm trying to figure out is what's a magic word to say that's appropriately fitting with the scare factor of thaumaturgy. A word you can say which still allows your intonation of "Kneel before me!" in your thaumaturgically enhanced booming voice to land afterwards.
^(As an aside, my go-to verbal component for prestidigitation is "presto!" because of course it is. Fits with the whimsical nature of prestidigitation, less so with thaumaturgy)
update:
some silly suggestions I thought of while reading people's responses. Still, I think they might work for specific characters, characters in the perfect context, or for characters who lean into the silliness in the right way for it to be menacing. D&D will always be a little bit campy after all
- Fee-fi-fo-fum! (I smell the blood of an englishman!)
- The slightly more archiac version "Fy, Fa, and Fum!"
- Boo! *perfectly timed thundercrack*
- MUAHAHAHAHA!
