After installing solar panels, I wanted to wall-mount an old tablet to display the system app data for everyone in the home but didn't want to risk screen burn. Just needed something that was clean and simple to use that could rotate through apps and media on the device. Nothing existed out there that did what I wanted without ads, clutter, or weird limiting workflows.

So I went with the Bigweld philosophy: “See a need, fill a need.”

I built AppCarousel, an Android app that turns any device — your main tablet, a wall‑mounted screen, a desk companion, or whatever — into a smooth, looping smart display. Photos, videos, Spotify, dashboards, news, finance, calendars, weather, energy stats… all in a clean rotation.

It’s now become part of my daily setup. The wall-mounted tablet display includes the solar system data, weather, solar prediction information, news, smart-home controls, videos and photos. My phone acts as a desk companion with meeting schedules and reminders, work related news alerts, photographs, live home security feeds, etc.

More details and recording recording example on my reddit page.

Download the app from the Google Play Store today.
