Pivetal Rite Fit Collar Alternatives For In Between Sizing

Hi, I am hoping someone else can take a look at this collar and tell me if there is a suitable alternative to recommend. My dog just had two cracked teeth removed and a small growth on her eyelid removed yesterday. We picked her up late yesterday and the Pivetal Rite Fit Collar the Vet provided is huge.

My dog's neck is about 12.5-13" around with comfortable room for two fingers to fit. She is 6-7 years old and around 40lbs. My whole hand fit under the collar, this is the way it was last night, she could just slide out of it easily. I called back this morning to ask about the sizing and was told that I need to use gauze or something to help keep it in place or that there are holes that I can use to secure it more.

I needed to go back anyway because they accidentally kept her collar. I brought her and the cone to show them the sizing and to ask about the holes, because I only saw the velcro. They took her back and adjusted the velcro so that she is unable to remove it.

I asked again about the cone length. The areas of concern are her right eye corner and back molars, they think a smaller size would let the dog reach those areas. When we arrived home just now the dog cracked the cone hitting it into the table. Per the vet the next size down for the model they utilize isn't sufficient. I am wondering if perhaps another brand's sizing would work better.

So I already have a donut collar on order from Amazon last night when the cone was just flying off left and right. The vet asked me to continue using this collar in lieu of the donut, although now that it's cracked (happened as she was trying to navigate the kitchen, see the last picture), that won't be an option.

This is a Pivetal Rite Fit size 30. It is designed for dog neck sizes from 18.5-22" per the website.

If the next size down is really too short, is there another brand or option I can look for for a hard plastic cone? Will a donut cone be too risky on it's own?

Thanks for any advice, this is day 1 of 14 days of her wearing this. It's not so much that I don't think a dog can handle that or adjust potentially, just that it seems really obsessive for her size, for the location of the areas they don't want reached and now that it's cracked I need something else, if a donut isn't sufficient.
