I built a Costa Rica digital nomad budget planner because cost estimates online are all over the place

Hello everyone, first time around here. I’ve been working on a digital budget planner for people considering living or working remotely in Costa Rica.

The idea came from noticing that cost-of-living estimates online are often scattered, outdated, or too generic. Rent, groceries, transportation, coworking, restaurants, utilities, and lifestyle costs can vary a lot depending on whether someone is looking at San José, Tamarindo, Santa Teresa, Puerto Viejo, La Fortuna, Nosara, Jacó, or other towns.

So I built a simple planner that includes:

  • a web app
  • an editable Excel spreadsheet
  • a printable PDF planner
  • destination comparisons
  • monthly budget estimates
  • a scenario planner

It is meant as a practical planning tool, not as official financial, legal, tax, immigration, or relocation advice.

What costs do you think people underestimate the most when planning a move to Costa Rica?

Is it something that people would want?

Thank you for the feedback.
