it feels like this is supposed to be a metaphor or some sort of statement or philosophy thing(im not sure how to describe it) but im not sure what it means.
something about greed maybe, like the rest of the milagro man arc? seriously i have no idea. or am i reading into this too much?
also if possible no spoilers past this. i havent yet read past this chapter.
my question concerns everything in song writing so feel free to tell any examples, but i have a specific problem.
Lyrics have never came easy to me so what ive started to do is that i steal a sentence or a phrase from a song and build the rest of the lyrics off that or if that isnt enough i take a song title from another song and somehow incorporate that in the lyrics so i have two reference points i can write from.
i feel like i do it well enough that nobody could seriously accuse me of plagiarism(even though they might recognise the same sentence in another song), but stealing is stealing.
Is this something thats "allowed"? it helps me write but stealing is stealing so it is kind of in a grey zone in my moral.
what do yall think?
Im clearly the head of my band since i am the lead guitarist and lead singer and write all the songs. i have nothing wrong with this but i feel like its hard to write songs solo for the whole band since i only play guitar and sing (also by extention bass) but that leaves out keys and drums and i always feel i get stuck on them and hate to finish songs without them because i feel like the songs would be better if i had the whole song in my mind when writing. also ive felt this when ive done bass guitar and vocals on a song and the keys and drums were added after.
how do you combat this issue?
